Our Specialist Adviser, David Moore, brings to our clients 25 years professional and leadership experience in Defence, Regional, Treasury, Employment and Social Policy – including a decade as a Senior Adviser to the former Howard Federal Government in media and policy. His Government service included over three years in regional and local government policy as a Ministerial media adviser – based in Queensland. More notably, for six and half years, David was Chief of Staff to former high profile Federal Minister Mal Brough during his time as Employment Minister, Assistant Defence Minister, Assistant Treasurer and then Minister for Families, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs.
David played a key role in a number of major public policy reforms including reform of the $3 billion Job Network; Defence personnel and procurement policy including implementing the Kinnaird Review recommendations for Defence procurement and responding to matter pertaining to the Senate Inquiry into the Military Justice System; taxation and superannuation reform; and, more recently, the Federal Government’s Emergency Intervention into Northern Territory Aboriginal Communities. He was also responsible for stakeholder relations with the Prime Minister’s Community Business Partnership – a board comprising some of Australia’s most respected business and community group leaders.
There are few advisers with a decade’s hands-on issues management experience at the political sharp end. He has operated at the most senior government level dealing with difficult policy reform and program implementation.
In recognition of his expertise, David’s opinion pieces are still regularly published in national newspapers and he occasionally submits to Government legislative and policy review committees.
Open Door Consulting is pleased to offer David Moore’s hands on expertise and advice to its clients.
